My research practice of drawing, print and pattern inspire surface designs for applications across fashion, interior and architectural contexts. With a modernist graphic aesthetic, the quality of materials and design are of primary consideration.

LATEST NEWS: Spring 2020

Finally I am able to reveal work in progress pictures as well as final results of my collaboration with Japanese fashion brand Stamps Inc. We worked together to agree the direction of a bespoke pattern and I hand drew the design in repeat ready for the design to be screen printed on to the cloth. Several garments for womenswear, including a shirt, a dress and trousers have been made, with beautiful details and buttons, available in blue and in grey colourways. The attention to detail in the outcomes is stunning and makes me so proud of the project, in stores in Japan now! You can read about the project here.

I'm spending any spare time I have writing for a rather large ongoing project but I'm thoroughly enjoying the process and it feeds my teaching on the subject of pattern design perfectly.

I've also got back to the drawing board over the last few months in order to develop ideas in relation to traditional pattern structures. It's too early to share any outcomes, but exciting to be pushing my practical research forward too. Sometimes I'm driven by an outcome to arrive at, and sometimes it's the journey I decide upon, with little focus on where it may take me - I like that variety!
